The somber notes of Lewis Capaldi wash over the dark, vanilla-scented room. An arm emerges from the layers of blankets to skip the song. A knock at the door jars me fully awake. My dad asks if I want to go on a walk with him and our dog, Blue. I mumble no as I sink back into the recognizable arms of depression.
“Sorry bubba, she’s not feeling too well. Make sure to give her some extra kisses when she comes down, okay? She needs you right now,” my dad said. My family saw the all too familiar signs they have grown accustomed too.
Quarantine caused me to face the demons I thought I had already beat. With all the free time and nothing to do, my mind raced. However, I figured out ways to stay healthy and happy.
Quarantine has been hard on many of us for different reasons. Many people rely on social interactions to help maintain a stable, healthy mind. Routines are a way to remain stable and quarantine has stolen the comfortable routines we once all had. I have had to adjust my routines and find new ways to stay afloat.
